Higher Edge Seeking Paid Summer Internships for Success Program Students

New London, CT – Higher Edge is a nonprofit that guides low-income and first-generation students through enrollment, retention, and graduation from college by providing the support and resources needed for success. Students admitted into its College Access Program begin working with Higher Edge staff their senior year of high school to apply to college. Once enrolled, students transition to the organization’s Success Program.  Higher Edge is currently seeking Summer 2019 paid internships for its Success Program college students.

“Success Program college students are pursuing degrees in a variety of fields, are succeeding academically and many have taken on leadership roles at their respective colleges,” says Higher Edge Executive Director Theresa Armendarez. “What better way to support and encourage these students to return to our Eastern Connecticut workforce after graduation than to give them an opportunity to gain skills from a local business as a summer intern?”

Higher Edge will market, email and gather resumes for a business’ open summer positions. The business selects the candidates to interview and Higher Edge will schedule the student interview - preferably before May 1, 2019. If your business is ready now to meet prospective summer intern candidates and/or would like to provide information to students about your company, Higher Edge’s Success Program will be hosting four “Winter Summits” in February 2019:

February 4, 2019
Eastern Connecticut State University Campus

February 5, 2019
UCONN Storrs Campus

February 6, 2019
Three Rivers Community College Campus

February 7, 2019
UCONN Avery Point Campus
