Liberty Bank Accepting Applications For Donald B. Wilbur Scholarship

Liberty Bank is seeking applications for the 2022 Donald B. Wilbur Scholarship. The scholarship will be presented to a graduating high school senior who is enrolling in an accredited college, university, or other institution of higher education (two-year or more) with the goal of majoring in engineering or a technology-related field. 

The scholarship recipient will be selected by Wilbur, past chairman of the board of directors of Liberty Bank, and will be given a $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must be graduating from a high school in a town served by Liberty Bank. Application forms with scholarship guidelines are available on Liberty Bank’s website and must be submitted no later than Friday, April 15, 2022. Download the 2022 Donald B. The 2021 Donald B. Wilbur Scholarship was awarded to Jonathan Gonzalez of Meriden, who is currently attending the Catholic University of America in Washington DC, pursuing a degree in biomedical engineering.

Donald B. Wilbur became a corporator of Liberty Bank in 1993 and joined the board of directors two years later.  He was elected chairman in 2004 and served in that role until his retirement from the board in 2008.  He retired in 2002 as plant manager of Unilever HPC, USA in Clinton.  A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Wilbur joined Chesebrough-Pond’s USA in 1970 and held various positions over the years at plants in Alabama, Missouri, and Connecticut.
