Mystic to celebrate Irish heritage with local fire chief Mystic, CT – The Mystic Irish Parade announced that Mystic Fire Chief Frank (Fritz) Hilbert will be the Grand Marshal for the 2019 Mystic Irish Parade. Hilbert has served as a firefighter for 48 years and as Mystic Fire Chief for 30 years. “The Mystic Irish Parade is one of the biggest events Mystic has to offer, and I am excited to be participating as Grand Marshal,” said Hilbert. “It’s a great opportunity to be a part of one of the events that make our community such a great place to live in.” On March 24, the Mystic Irish Parade Foundation will host its 16th annual Parade. The parade is the biggest single-day event in Mystic each year, and it is just part of the Irish themed festivities that celebrate St. Patrick's Day. The festivities will begin at the Mystic Seaport, starting at 1 p.m. This year’s Grand Marshal is Mystic Fire Chief Frank (Fritz) Hilbert. Hilbert has served the town of Mystic as Fire Chief for 26 years and a firefighter for 44 years. He is on the executive board of the Connecticut State Firefighters Association and is the Commissioner of Fire Prevention and Control for the Connecticut Fire Academy. “Fire Chief Frank Hilbert has dedicated his life to protecting our community,” said Neil Ryan, Vice President of the Mystic Irish Parade Foundation. “The Mystic Parade is excited to feature someone who is an essential supporter of the community as this year's Grand Marshal.” This fun-filled event will feature floats representing outstanding community organizations, traditional Irish music, local school marching bands, bag pipers, local acts and celebrate all things Saint Patrick.
