Nancy Seely-Butler, Professional Motivational Speaker, Attends Unveiling of 'Fearless Girl' Statue

Nancy Seely-Butler, professional motivational speaker, business coach and award-winning author attended the unveiling of The Fearless Girl statue in New York City and the ringing of the opening bell on the NY Stock Exchange floor.

As a top female leader, State Street Global Advisors invited Nancy to attend this historic event. Her 37-year history in the financial services industry, Hall of Fame status, Education chair for a national Women’s Empowerment Network since its inception and her 2018 appointment as a delegate to the United Nations for The Commission on the Status of Women, was a perfect fit for attendance at this event.

“Fearless Girl” is a 4-foot bronze sculpture by Kristen Visbal, commissioned by State Street Global Advisors to spur companies to put more women on their boards. The statue was installed on March 7, 2017, facing the Charging Bull statue in lower Manhattan. Though it was supposed to be there for seven days, due to overwhelming public embrace of the statue, the New York City Mayor's office decided to extend her stay.

Nearly two years later, “Fearless Girl” relocated to her new home in front of the New York Stock Exchange. Originally created as a symbol of female empowerment, that symbol has led to real change. 301 companies that previously had no women on their boards have added at least one since “Fearless Girl” made her debut.

Butler states "It was an honor to be a part of an event that will help to bring greater attention to the value women bring to the financial services industry."
