NESS Summer Camp Registration Opens on Feb. 1

New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) will open registration for its 2022 summer camp programs on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.

NESS, a New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC) accredited school partner program and award-winning ocean adventure STEM education nonprofit, provides students of all ages with programming that offer a unique combination of on-the-water and in-the-classroom lessons intended to spark curiosity, enhance learning, and encourage students to step out of their comfort zones.

Summer camp programs at NESS’s Stonington Borough location include classes for students from ages 4-17 in sailing, marine science, fishing, surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, snorkeling, and powerboating. Summer camp runs Monday through Friday for 10 weeks (June 20 - August 26). Half-day and full-day programs are available and lunch coverage will be an available option.

To learn more or register, please visit: NESSF.org/summer-camp. Classes fill fast, so interested families are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. Financial aid is available to make the ocean accessible to all. Apply for scholarships at NESSF.org/ness-scholarships.

In addition to summer camp NESS has some additional programming available for families and individuals. Every Saturday and Sunday, families can explore the world of adventure sports and science at locations that may be otherwise inaccessible, during our Summer Family Expeditions. Board our vessel, NESSie, with an experienced captain and educators that will guide you through an exciting adventure. Fish with one of our experienced anglers, explore the underwater world by seining and snorkeling at Sandy Point, East Harbor, or Flat Hammock, or ride the waves by boogie boarding at Napatree Beach! These adventures require children to have an adult participating with them. Programs are suitable for children 4 and above. Supervising adults must also register to reserve a spot.

NESS also offers private sailing lessons. Please email Adventure@nessf.org or call 860.535.9362 to reserve a private lesson.

Looking for a tour of Stonington by boat? Cruise historical Stonington Harbor for 90 minutes with one of our entertaining and knowledgeable captains. Experience the breathtaking beauty of the natural environment and listen to stories of the past and present unique to Fisher’s Island Sound with our boat tours. Harbor Cruises run on Friday and Saturday evenings in season. Visit NESSF.org/boat-tours for more information.

A complete schedule for NESS Summer opportunities can be found online at NESSF.org/summer-camp starting February 1st.
