Praised by The Guardian for the beauty of their “perfectly blended unblemished voices”, the British a cappella octet VOCES8 will bring their flawless eight-voice harmonies to the stage at UConn’s Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts on Friday evening, October 15th, for a presentation of Stardust, a diverse program of inspirational songs and music ranging from Renaissance works like William Byrd’s 1591 masterpiece Laudibus in Sanctis, to The Great American Song Book’s “I’ve Got the World on a String” by Harold Arlen, to contemporary pop classics like Don McClean’s poignant 1972 tribute “Vincent”, to bluegrass compositions like Mumford & Sons’ 2011 ballad “Timshel”. The eight-member UK group debuted their wide-ranging program earlier this year at the Live from London Summer Music Festival 2021 and garnered glowing reviews from fans, musicians, and critics alike - all inspired and renewed by the vocalists’ spirit-lifting performance.
The concert is also available via livestream on Jorgensen Digital Stage and in-person at Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts. Doors open at 7:00 pm. Show begins at 8:00 pm.
Media sponsors for VOCES8 are New England Public Media, the Chronicle, and Seasons Magazines/CT VOICE. Jorgensen Digital Stage sponsored in part by NICABM. Media sponsor for Jorgensen Digital Stage is the Journal Inquirer.
