Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling Announces Partnership with WONDR NATION

Problem gambling prevention organization teams up with online gaming entertainment company to support responsible gaming

The Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling (CCPG), today is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with WONDR NATION, the new online gaming entertainment company and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s newest venture. Joining the organization as an official sponsor and Platinum Level partner, WONDR NATION aims to create new and immersive experiences for players by using emerging technologies and partnering with best-in-class gaming platforms. Through this new partnership, CCPG alongside WONDR NATION will address problem gambling and provide responsible gambling resources for new and experienced players alike.

“Having worked with Anika in the past, we know what a dynamic leader she is and her passion for ensuring that players have the tools to play responsibly,” said Diana Goode, Executive Director of CCPG. “Since the launch of online gaming last fall, we have been focusing on creating new avenues and pathways to reach players that do not fall into the traditional player models. That is why we are so excited to partner with WONDR NATION and are heartened by their commitment of $300,000 because actions speak louder than words.”

Gambling responsibly means taking steps to reduce risks or harms to yourself that can occur when gambling. It is important to remember that all gambling activities have risk and to enjoy a safer playing experience, a player must be aware of the risks and how they can minimize them.

Led by gaming industry veteran, Anika Howard, WONDR NATION is committed to providing the needed tools, education, and resources for all individuals to engage in effective and safe betting and wagering practices. As an official sponsor and Platinum Level partner of CCPG, WONDR NATION will help carry out its dedication to serving healthy player habits, while supporting the organization’s ongoing efforts surrounding responsible gaming.

“Providing a safe and responsible gaming experience for players has been both an ongoing, key priority for Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and a cornerstone of the new WONDR NATION platform,” said Anika Howard, CEO & President of WONDR NATION. “We’re proud to join the Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling as a Platinum member as our partnership will allow for more dollars to go to providing additional tools, resources, and trainings that help support safe player atmospheres.”

Using proven strategies like playing for entertainment only and stopping if it is no longer fun, setting time and money limits, and avoiding playing while under the influence or upset can help reduce the risks of a person being impacted by gambling related harms.

“The long-term success of the gaming industry is contingent upon its commitment to promoting responsible habits,” said Rodney Butler, Chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, and member of WONDR NATION’s Board of Directors. “We look forward to continuing the work alongside the State of Connecticut on this important topic to ensure that players are equipped with best practices for successful and safe gaming and betting.”
