Support CT Small Businesses This Holiday Season

When it comes to the economic impact of the pandemic, small businesses have been hit harder than most. I have spoken with many of these business owners and I am continually impressed with their determination to keep their workers employed and their organizations active during this incredibly challenging time.

Small businesses are an important part of Connecticut’s economy and have always been a driving force behind the state’s innovative spirit. Right now, we need to be doing everything we can to support these local businesses.

Later this week the country will celebrate Small Business Saturday, but I am hopeful that our support can be even broader. In addition to shopping at small businesses throughout the holiday season, I encourage you to also utilize local vendors and suppliers for any end-of-year purchases for your company.

To help support this effort, we recently allocated a portion of our existing marketing budget asking people to shop, dine, donate and stay local this year. As part of this initiative, which includes search and social media advertising, content marketing and public relations, we are encouraging residents to use the hashtag #SupportCTBusinesses on social media. I hope you will all join in and use the hashtag on your personal and business social media pages.

Thank you for everything you continue to do to keep our economy strong and our residents safe. Have a safe, healthy and happy Thanksgiving.
