17th annual Open House Day: June 12

We are pleased to announce that the 17th annual Open House Day will continue as planned on June 12! This year, due to the continued uncertainty of the pandemic, each property may choose to promote visits to their property virtually, in-person, or both.

About the event:
Connecticut Open House Day is designed to inspire Connecticut residents to learn about the amazing experiences in their own backyard so that they may spread the word to future visitors and guests. Art galleries, museums, theaters, historic properties, attractions, restaurants, and other key tourism sites throughout the state of Connecticut are invited to participate.
The event will be supported, as always, with both public relations and paid promotions, driving more awareness of participating businesses.
How to participate:
It’s free and easy to be a part of this popular event. All you need to do is:
1. Decide if you wish to offer a virtual experience, an in-person experience or both.
If you wish to offer a digital experience, it can be something you already have, or something you create specifically for this event. If you need to create an experience, the simplest thing is a virtual tour made with the video camera on your smartphone. Here are tips to help:

If you wish to offer an enticement for in-person visits, either exclusively or in addition to a virtual experience, determine what you would like to offer. For example:
  • Free or reduced admission all day
  • Free or reduced admission for four hours
  • Free or reduced admission for the first 25 visitors
  • A free item with paid admission
Please note that all in-person offerings must follow the state’s most recent safety guidelines.
2. Register as a participant in the event and submit a description and photo here.

We hope you will participate in this year’s event! And thank you for all you do for Connecticut Tourism!
