Degrees and Certificates Awarded at Three Rivers Community College Commencement

 Friends and families packed the campus green to cheer on the Three Rivers Community College graduates at the 57th annual Commencement on Wednesday, May 25. It was the first in-person and on-campus Commencement since 2019. 462 students earned a total of 422 associate degrees and 51 certificates. Eleven students earned two degrees, seven earned both a degree and certificate, and five students earned a Medallion for Academic Excellence, which is achieved by maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.
Holly Howery spoke on behalf of the Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education, stressing that students should be proud of their accomplishment, and said, “On behalf of the entire Board, we extend to you our heartfelt congratulations along with our hopes that each of you pursue your dreams … with the same dedication and perseverance that brought you to this day of success and celebration.”
Addressing the graduates, President Mary Ellen Jukoski said, “Graduates, good luck as you pursue your future. Find your passion! Get involved in the communities in which you work and live to make a difference. Celebrate life and be thankful for all that you have. Take pride in your accomplishments and know that we are proud of you.” She also highlighted the stories of several graduates and the varied paths that brought them to the campus green that day.

The Student Speaker, Amber Spring De Souza, delivered the Student Graduate Address. She acknowledged the many paths she and her fellow students took to reach graduation, saying, “Learning is a lifelong journey; it will is always be there awaiting you and, whichever direction your path takes you, remember it will be what you make of it. Move forward with grace, move forward without fear, and always believe in yourself. It is because of you, that you made it here. Congratulations to the Class of 2022.”
The Commencement Exercises also included a faculty address from Professor Joseph Selvaggio, a welcome from President Mark Tramontozzi of the Three Rivers College Foundation Board of Directors and a greeting from the Student Government Association by President Lorenzo Enderle.

Students graduated from programs including Liberal Arts & Sciences, General Engineering Technology, Accounting, Visual Fine Arts, Nursing, Early Childhood Education, Hospitality Management, Nuclear Engineering Technology, Sports and Leisure Management, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Human Services.
