Leadership Eastern CT Celebrates Graduation with Award Reception

For over 30 years, Leadership Eastern CT has prepared future community leaders to assume positions of responsibility and take on challenges in the region. Class of 2022 demonstrated a keen sense of  adaptability, determination, and reslliance as the program was led in a hybrid format.

The class celebrated graduation on June 22nd at The Spa at Norwich Inn, featuring keynote speaker Marguerite Driscoll, Director of Safety Council Operations at Pfizer.  In her remarks, Driscoll led the class through her professional journey, emphasizing the importance of opportunity.  Graduating with a law degree, and working as the General Counsel to the Board of Labor Relations, her path of opportunities landed her at Pfizer, where she has fulfilled the last 23 years of her career.   Through her experiences and wisdom, she left the class with three lessons, “Allow yourself the room to discover what you love, manage your own career, and move toward opportunity”.

Driscoll’s life lessons resonated with the class as they reflected on their opportunities for personal growth and professional development.  Each Leadership class has a group project.  This year, the class volunteered to help the Waterford Country School beautify the landscaping around their campus just in time for their Centennial Celebration.  Part of this two day, laborious project included the construction of a pavilion.

Leadership graduates forge a lasting network in the program and show a strong commitment to service, often volunteering on nonprofit boards. “The Leadership Program emphasizes the value of developing leaders to face the region’s and nation’s challenges. The Chamber congratulates the Class of 2022 and anticipates great contributions from this class to our community,” said Chamber President and CEO Tony Sheridan.
