UCONN's Jorgensen Center For the Performing Arts Announces Fall 2022 Season Featuring Multiple Celebrations

Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts on the UConn Storrs Campus is celebrating the best of music, dance and entertainment during their upcoming fall 2022 season. From the final tour of the legendary Emerson String Quartet to the one-of-a-kind Swiss theatre troupe Mummenschanz’s 50th anniversary, Jorgensen continues to present the world’s most celebrated artists to UConn and the greater Storrs community.
In homage to the UConn Women’s Center’s 50th anniversary, Jorgensen Center will be hosting several events including two-time Grammy Award-winner Rhiannon Giddens with Francesco Turrisi, triple-threat comedian, actor and writer Fortune Feimster, Sophie Shao, UConn School of Music Assistant Professor of Cello, and the exceptionally talented jazz singer Samara Joy. The Jorgensen Gallery will present Celebration! A New Chapter for the M. Estelle Sprague Collection, that highlights the changing silhouette of women’s dress from the early nineteenth to twenty-first centuries, as well as garments donated by women who were UConn administrators and alumnae.
“After all the performing arts community has been through during the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s vital that we take the time to celebrate the milestones and accomplishments of these talented artists,” said Rodney Rock, Jorgensen Director. “Jorgensen is committed to providing our patrons with the best the industry has to offer.”
In addition, Jorgensen will present a robust Lenard Chamber Music Series. This fall features four performances within the Series, including Emerson String Quartet and long-lived early music ensemble The Boston Camerata. The UConn Collegium Musicum, under the direction of Dr. Eric Rice (Music Department Head & Professor of Music History), will perform alongside the Boston Camerata for a section of their program A Medieval Christmas.
“It is always a pleasure to prominently feature chamber music, and we continue to be grateful for the generosity of Jean and John Lenard and our donors who contribute to the Lenard Chamber Music Endowment,” Rock said.
The Piano Guys and Fortune Feimster are currently on sale. Tickets for all other Fall 2022 events will go on sale Monday, August 29 at 10 A.M. Visit Jorgensen.uconn.edu for the full list of events, programs, updated policies and procedures, and more.
