STORRS, CT - Lauded as one of the most dynamic, charismatic, and creative ensembles on today’s international music scene, “the young and extremely talented Polish Apollon Musagète Quartet” (Bachtrack.com) will take the stage at UConn’s Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday afternoon, October 16 for a recital of selected chamber works by Franz Schubert (Quartet in D Major, D. 94), (Quartet in B-flat Major, D. 36), and Dmitri Shostakovich (Piano Quintet in G minor, Op. 57).

The award-winning ensemble, whose lively playing has been heralded as “distinguished by an enormous dynamic range, an unusual malleability of phrasing, and a wide palette of color” (Cleveland Classical), will be joined by 1970 Chopin International Piano Competition winner Garrick Ohlsson, whose keyboard performances combine “incredible technique with razor-sharp accuracy, producing a sound so lush it almost glistens” (Seattle Times). Media sponsors for the event are Connecticut Public and Seasons Media. Doors open at 2:30pm. Concert begins at 3:00pm.
