Reliance Health Receives 2016 Backus President’s Award

Norwich, CT – Reliance Health, formerly Reliance House, a Norwich-based non-profit community mental health center on a mission to enhance health through mental wellness, is the recipient of the Backus 2016 President’s Award.

The award, which includes a $5,000 donation to the organization, was announced at Backus Hospital’s Annual Meeting on Nov. 16. It was established in 2011 to honor people and organizations that collaborate with Backus to help improve health and quality of life in the community.

“In so many cases, patients we treat have underlying behavioral health issues that are detrimental to their overall health. Having a community partner like Reliance Health helps Backus in our mission to treat the whole person not just the acute or chronic health problem they may face when they come to our hospital,” said Hospital President Bimal Patel. “Congratulations to [Reliance health CEO] Dave Burnett and his staff; I thank them for they do for our patients and our community.”

The recipient of this year’s award was chosen by hospital Vice President of Finance Dan Lohr who is retiring at the end of the year. Lohr, who was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his 25 years of service to Backus, is known for his charitable work in the community.
