SCORE Launches New Member Recruitment Campaign, Welcomes Phil Regas to Guilford Mentoring Team

Guilford, CT – Philip Regas has joined the southeastern Connecticut chapter of SCORE as a new member of its Guilford mentoring team. SCORE is a volunteer organization that provides free counseling to start-ups and existing small businesses each month in Guilford and eight other Southeast CT locations.

Margo Weitekamp, Chair of southeastern Connecticut SCORE, stated: "We're delighted to welcome Phil to SCORE. His background and experience bring great skills and business expertise to our chapter and small business entrepreneurs in the Guilford area."

Since 1993, Mr. Regas has been the President, CEO and majority shareholder of several public and private companies in the fields of computer science, medical device manufacturing, and in music and film recording and production. He received his Bachelors Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science and his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Denver. Philip has worked for several large institutions including US West, a Baby Bell Company, the United States Air Force, and American Management Systems, a large government contractor. He currently is the founder and CEO of the Profit Consulting Group which provides custom business consulting services to small and mid-size companies.

"What l like most about being a SCORE volunteer," noted Mr. Regas, "is the opportunity it provides to give back to my community, passing on my business knowledge to help the next generation of entrepreneurs succeed. SCORE is in the business of helping make your small business dreams come true."

Mr. Regas also commented: "We're launching our SCORE new member recruitment campaign in the Guilford area and are looking for men and women with a variety of business backgrounds and skills who would like to share their knowledge to help people start up or improve their small business as a SCORE mentor."

"Last year, SCORE helped nearly 400 clients in southeastern Connecticut,” noted Chapter Chair Weitekamp. “SCORE also provides free year-round small business workshops, many sponsored by regional banks. Subjects include how to write a business plan, managing small business finances, using QuickBooks, social media marketing, how to get a small business bank loan, and more."

"For many of our SCORE volunteers, the attraction is keeping their hands in the business world without having to worry about the 9-to-5 routine. For members who have recently retired and miss being in a business environment, SCORE provides them with a great way to share their business knowledge and experience with others. It's fun and very rewarding."
