Old Saybrook, CT – The Southeastern Connecticut chapter of SCORE, a nonprofit association dedicated to the success of small businesses, will present a free Small Business Workshop on "All that and a bag of chips – The Art of Salemanship" with media maven Maria Miranda.

For nearly 40 years, HJ Miranda sold and delivered the Frito Lay potato chip throughout New England. For 20 of those years, he taught his daughter, Maria Miranda, the art of salesmanship via sincere stories based on his daily experiences. The skills father imparted to daughter led Maria to start an award-winning marketing firm at just 24 years of age, and to grow a business that is successful on all levels. After the loss of her father, Maria compiled his daily lessons into a unique, engaging and heartfelt presentation that teaches lessons about the finesse of selling, in an echo of what was shared at the dinner table each evening.

In this session, attendees will learn that the best way to sell is to meet needs; the value of building relationships as a way of building business; and how and when to ask for business.

Workshop Presenter Maria Miranda is the principal and creative director of Miranda Creative, an award-winning marketing and communications firm in Norwich, Connecticut. With a growing roster of clients on a national scale, Maria and her colleagues manage or advise the new media programs (websites, social media, mobile media) in a wide range of industries. Maria is a regular presenter for many regional chambers, a guest specialist on WFSB/Channel 3 and has led a variety of social media workshops nationwide.
