SECWAC to Present ''Syria, Iran, and the Great Game in the Middle East'' Sept 20

The Rev. Canon Nicholas T. Porter will speak on
“Syria, Iran and the Great Game in the Middle East” 
on September 20th, 2016 at Old Lyme Middle School, 53 Lyme St., Old Lyme.
 
Reception begins at 5:15 p.m.; a short annual meeting will be held at 5:45 pm, prior to the 6:00 pm start of the presentation. 
 
The Rev. Canon Nicholas T. Porter is co-founder and Executive Director of Jerusalem Peacebuilders, an interfaith leadership program that equips American, Israeli, and Palestinian youth to be leaders and agents of positive change.  A former resident of Europe and a frequent visitor to the Middle East, Nicholas Porter is an educator and Episcopal priest.  After graduating from Yale University, the American University in Cairo, the University of London, and the Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, Nicholas served the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East, Paris, France, Geneva, Switzerland and in Southport, CT.  He is a long-time analyst of Middle Eastern affairs and frequently speaks about events in Jerusalem, Syria and Iran.  Together with his wife Dorothy, Porter has three daughters.  They currently live on a farm in southern Vermont.
 
Dinner:  A dinner follows immediately after the presentation for a number of Members and Guests at the Old Lyme Country Club (40 McCurdy Road, Old Lyme). To attend the dinner, a reservation is required - please call 860-912-5718 or email info@secwac.org to make your reservation. A vegetarian option is available but it must be reserved in advance.
Cost is $35 per person; checks payable to SECWAC (or credit card payment) are accepted before the meeting by Courtney Assad, at which time you will receive a dinner ticket. All reservations or cancellations must be received 24 hours prior to the program.
