Thames River Innovation Place Seeking Project Proposals

Groton, CT – Thames River Innovation Place, (TRIP) as part of CTNext’s Innovation Places program, is seeking proposals for year three projects. Proposals will need to be reviewed, approved, and submitted to CTNext by April 30th.

The intent of new projects is to develop new initiatives and partnerships that will strengthen the region’s ability to:

  • Attract and retain top talent
  • Create a great environment for companies to start and grow
  • Increase access to sources of capital for emerging companies
  • reate a more vibrant and cohesive live/work/play community

TRIP is a critical driver and incubator for projects and programs that support the region’s economy. Success stories include the development of a Community Concierge program by the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut. The program includes a 4-minute video that highlights the attractiveness of eastern Connecticut along with a Relocation Guide designed to assist the region’s employers to attract and retain talent from across the country. www.CommunityECT.com

Another TRIP success is the development of the Navel and Maritime Consortium. This timely program, working in partnership with the University of Connecticut, is designed to grow and support the naval and maritime supply chain by addressing challenges, sharing solutions and collaborating and capitalizing on business opportunities. www.navalandmaritimeconsortium.com

RD86 is located at 86 Golden Street New London. The purpose of this program is enhance food, arts and culture activity in downtown New London while training the next generation of future restaurant owners and staff. www.rd86space.com

This request for proposals comes during a period of growth for New London and the region. The off-shore energy development along with the growth in the maritime industry and the resulting ripple effect provides wonderful opportunities for creative thinking in the development of products and services by entrepreneurs.
