NEW LONDON, Conn. (November 17, 2021) – Thames Valley Council for Community Action (TVCCA) today announced that it has received a $5,000 donation from DoorDash through the company’s Community Credits program, which provides nonprofit organizations with DoorDash gift cards to help them empower the communities that they serve.
TVCCA provides services and partners with other organizations to address the social determinants of health – housing, food security, employment needs, education, and basic needs – of low-income and vulnerable households in Eastern Connecticut, focusing on building the community’s self-sufficiency and resiliency.
“We’ve seen a tremendous increase in the need for our critical food and financial support services since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Barbara Crouch, TVCCA's Senior Director of Marketing and Development. “We’re incredibly grateful for DoorDash’s support of our organization, which will help us improve the overall well-being of many individuals and families in our community.”
Launched in early 2021, DoorDash’s Community Credits program has supported more than 150 nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and Canada through more than $4 million in donations.
“Empowering local economies is central to DoorDash’s mission, and providing opportunity and access for communities across Connecticut is at the heart of what we do,” said Christina Kennedy, Senior Manager, Government Relations. “The ongoing challenges presented by the pandemic have only increased the importance of services like those provided by TVCCA, and we are honored to support their essential mission and work in the community.”
The TVCCA Community Credits contribution is part of DoorDash’s ongoing commitment to Connecticut communities. In January 2021, DoorDash donated $500,000 to the Connecticut Restaurant Association’s Relief Fund as part of a partnership under the Main Street Strong program.
