The Stonington Community Center (COMO) Welcomes Dr. Matthew Haugen as Executive Director

[Stonington, CT] - Jill Corr, Board Chair of The Stonington COMO, has announced that Dr. Matthew Haugen will commence as Executive Director on May 25, 2023, replacing Beth Stewart, who retired on March 28, following a ten-year career with the organization.

Dr. Haugen, an alumnus of Kenyon College with a bachelor’s degree in political science, holds a PhD from The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where he was a Fulbright Scholar in Kinesiology, Cultural, Interpretive and Science Studies. He also holds an M.Ed. in Education, Physical Education Pedagogy from Boise State University.

Matt, who has been an Assistant Pro for many years at The Misquamicut Club, has also coached numerous Division I and Division III college teams; most recently he has been the Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach at Brown University. He previously worked as Head Tennis Coach in Hebel Province for the Chinese government Olympic Development Program.
