YPECT Announces Young Professionals of the Year, New Vice Chair, Sets Banquet Date

Eastern CT – The Young Professionals of Eastern CT (YPECT) have announced their 2015 Young Professionals of the Year honorees, as well as their new network Vice Chair, all of whom will be recognized at a formal dinner on February 5 at Latitude 41 Restaurant & Tavern in Mystic.

YPECT is a group that provides networking, career building, and volunteer opportunities for young adults throughout the region. As of press, the group includes almost 300 future business leaders among its ranks. The YPECT program is an initiative of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT.

The YP of the Year Award is presented annually by the network to its most outstanding members. Honorees this year include Eunice Lima-Brooks, Visa Specialist for Charter Oak Federal Credit Union; Ashley Mullen, Client Service Associate for UBS Financial Services; and Calvin Utter, Realtor for Hunter Moore and Stearns.  Individuals were nominated by their peers for their dedication to community engagement, commitment to career success, and activity in YPECT programming.

The group’s incoming Vice Chair, also nominated by fellow members, will be Crissy Doucette, owner of Crissy’s Critters and Waterford resident. Doucette, a long-time member of the YPECT group, volunteers regularly for local animal shelters, schools, and other non-profit organizations.

“My experience with the Young Professionals of Eastern CT has surpassed my expectations,” said Doucette. “As Vice Chair, I see a creative, fresh future for YPECT. I love this area of southeastern Connecticut and have a passion to make it better.”

Doucette will serve under the current Chair, Meagan Seacor, of Stonington Institute and MES Strategies. Both work closely with Chamber leadership to organize monthly networking events, volunteer opportunities, and professional development programs.

“We are immensely proud of our Young Professionals program,” said Tony Sheridan, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT. “Its extraordinary growth this past year demonstrates a great need for young adult programs locally, but also goes to show Chairperson Meagan Seacor’s hard work and leadership. We look forward to the new ideas Ms. Doucette will bring to continue this trend.”
