A lifelong resident of Southeastern Connecticut, Joyce has 40 years of banking experience. Prior to joining Chelsea Groton, he worked for many years at Norwich Savings Society and People’s United Bank. Wednesday, 12/21Groton Municipal Groton, CT – The Chelsea Groton Foundation approved funding $315,663 in grants to 40 non-profit organizations from Connecticut and Rhode Island this fall. Included in this dollar amount is a $100,000 grant to NCDC for Global City Norwich, a multi-year project of revitalizing Downtown Norwich, as well as a commitment of $100,000 over the next five years to the National Coast Guard Museum Association, Inc. Chelsea Groton is the first mutual or community bank to give a major gift to the campaign for the Stonington, CT – The New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) is offering a variety of programs that will help youth and adults get certified for their summer jobs. The nonprofit has organized a special week (April 16-21) for anyone in the area who may need certification, re-certification, or training for their upcoming summer job or on-the-water adventures.
These courses are open to the public, but advanced registration is required. Stonington Program Director Mary Ann Horrigan said, "As we United Way of Southeastern Connecticut is contributing an additional $25,000 to the American Red Cross, Connecticut Chapter, due to the increased strain and demand the organization is facing from events including numerous major hurricane events, fires in western states, and earthquakes in Mexico. United Way of Southeastern Connecticut already funds the Red Cross Armed Forces Emergency Services and Disaster Services Programs on an ongoing basis.
“United Way in New London County is proud to send United Way of Southeastern Connecticut’s Board of Directors has approved fund distributions in the amount of $2,519,460 for the fiscal year 2016-16. This funding supports 47 programs at 21 nonprofit organizations in New London County that work together to provide a network of safety net of services to help those in need.
In addition to these distributions, United Way 2-1-1 receives $52,492. 2-1-1 is a 24-hour information and referral helpline that is available free of charge to anyone in Connecticut. The Credit Union Funds 11 Grants and Donates to 10 Local Food Pantries in DecemberWaterford, CT – Charter Oak Federal Credit Union donated more than $75,000 to community organizations in its fourth-quarter.
Donating food and money to local food pantries has become a key funding initiative for Charter Oak. This past December, the credit union donated $34,000 to local food pantries in an effort to help them restock their pantry shelves after the busy holiday season. Each food pantry received an unsolicited Waterford, CT – Charter Oak Federal Credit Union will be hosting a blood drive on Thursday, October 1st at its Branch & Headquarters in Waterford at 1055 Hartford Turnpike.
The public is invited to donate blood between 11:00am and 4:30pm. Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good overall health. Eligible donors are able to donate blood every two months.
The American Red Cross must collect 15,000 blood donations every day to meet the needs of patients at Waterford, CT – December 22, 2014 – Charter Oak Federal Credit Union has approved all eight of its fourth quarter grant requests, totaling $16,500.
