Each year, an outstanding individual is selected by a committee of business and community leaders to recognize their dedicated contributions to our region. This year, we are proud to honor Katherine "Kathie" Verano as our 75th Citizen of the Year.

Kathie is the Chief Executive Officer of Safe Futures, where for more than three decades she has championed survivors of violence with compassion and unwavering dedication. Recognized nationally and internationally for her expertise in domestic violence advocacy and training, she has built lasting partnerships across Connecticut and beyond while continuing to serve her community through numerous councils, boards, and civic organizations.
