Rich in open space, North Stonington boasts one of the largest state parks in Connecticut and has over 20,000 acres in protected open space, forest and farmland, recreational areas and conservation easements. The Shunock and Green Falls Rivers provide excellent trout fishing as they meander through protected pristine corridors. The five lakes in town offer year round recreation including swimming, sailing, water skiing and tubing, kayaking and canoeing, summer and winter fishing, ice skating and cross country skiing. Hiking and equestrian trails crisscross the miles of municipal and state trails where wildlife abounds.
