Women's Cross Country Ranked Eighth in New England

New Orleans, LA – After a strong showing at the Purple Valley Invitational, the Coast Guard women's cross country team is now ranked eighth in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) New England Region poll.

The Bears finished seventh as a team topping Amherst, who was previously ranked eighth in the region, and New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe WPI. 

Coast Guard is off to a great start this season with a team sweep to open the season at the Purchase Invitational followed their best finish at the Purple Valley Invitational. Sophomore Kaitlyn Mooney picked up where she left off last season with a first and second place finish to start the season to go along with two NEWMAC Athlete of the Week awards. Freshman Lauren Felt has also burst on the scene this season finishing in second place at Purchase followed by a ninth place finish at the Purple Valley Invitational.

Coast Guard is back in action this weekend at the competitive Paul Short Invitational in Lehigh, Pennsylvania.
