Eastern CT Symphony Musicians To Perform for New London Community Meal Center Dec 14

The ECSO announces the continuation of a program supported by the New London Rotary Club. On Thursday, December 14, 2017, musicians from the ECSO will perform duets during the New London Community Meal Center’s dinner service at 5pm. ECSO Principal Clarinetist, Kelli O’Connor, and ECSO Principal Oboist Carla Parodi, will perform for food insecure residents of New London County. Every 2nd Thursday of the month, the New London Rotary Club volunteers with dinner service, and the performances happen on those dates. The ECSO is seeking corporate sponsorship to grow this program moving forward.

This partnership supports the ECSO’s mission by providing live orchestral music to a group of people that cannot afford to attend a concert regularly. A crucial part of the ECSO’s mission is to “connect our communities” and this grant enables a connection to be made between the Rotary Club of New London, ECSO, the New London Community Meal Center (NLCMC). Most importantly, the people in our community who do not have the chance to hear live music on a regular basis due to cost restrictions are given the opportunity through this grant.

17-18 Season general copy:
We are beyond excited to announce our 71st season’s lineup, curated by Music Director and Conductor Toshiyuki Shimada. Exquisite soloists from near, far, and within our very own orchestra ranks will take the stage next year. The chosen programs will continue to highlight the orchestral excellence that has become synonymous with the ECSO. Major repertoire selections include Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 (Eroica), Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 among many others. Our season comes to a ravishing close through a celebration of Leonard Bernstein’s 100th Anniversary with a concert presentation of Candide, a collaborative project uniting our artistic community for a presentation like no other in the region.
