Sails Up 4 Cancer Continues to Support Quality Hospice Care

Norwich, CT – Continuing their tradition of support for community hospice care, Center for Hospice Care recently announced it has been selected as a $3,000 grant recipient from Sails Up 4 Cancer to provide hospice and palliative care to cancer patients in Southeast Connecticut. 
 
 “We are very grateful and fortunate that Sails Up 4 Cancer has once again recognized our commitment to provide our patients in the final days of life and their families with quality care and services – in particular this support will enable us to serve patients who are uninsured, under-insured, and unable to pay,” said Carol Mahier, President and CEO of Center for Hospice Care.  “This grant from Sails Up 4 Cancer will also help to pay for complementary therapies we offer our patients, including therapeutic massage, Reiki, Reflexology, and Energy Work.  We care for our patients in whatever setting they call home – including personal residences, nursing homes, hospitals, hotels, and shelters.  Our staff is the most qualified and experienced in the field, and we work in interdisciplinary teams that coordinate care uniquely suited to the needs of each patient and family.”
 
Sails Up 4 Cancer is a charity organization dedicated to fundraising for cancer research, education, and prevention.  This is accomplished through the art and enjoyment of sailing.  SU4C is known for its annual summer regatta and annual art show Canvases for a Cause, though its fundraising efforts continue throughout the year.  SU4C also partners with many groups in Eastern Connecticut to raise awareness for its cause.
