Diving In: A Marine Scientist Takes On Pollution, Policy, and Public Health
Marine toxicologist, public health professional, explorer, and author, Susan Shaw, Dr. P.H. dove into the Gulf of Mexico oil slick a month after the Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion in 2010 to investigate the impact of massive amounts of chemical dispersants being used to sink the oil. Dr. Shaw will share insights from her investigation in the Gulf and her decades of pioneering research on ocean pollution when she speaks at Mitchell College on February 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Weller Center. Dr. Shaw is the Director/Founder of the Marine & Environmental Research Institute based in Blue Hill, Maine and Professor, School of Public Health, University at Albany, NY. She is a globally recognized expert on the health effects of environmental chemical exposure in wildlife and humans. About Mitchell College and the Speakers?
