Gallery Talk
Join two Connecticut College faculty members as they explore works of art in the current exhibition: Transmissions: Teaching and Learning in the Studio, New Works by the Faculty of the Connecticut College Art Department. Speakers will include: Gregory A. Bailey, Associate Professor of Art and Ted Hendrickson, Associate Professor of Art. Hendrickson will be speaking about his photographs of placed stonework marking the man-altered landscape and its potential evidence as work and ritual. Barely hidden in the woods from passing cars and encroaching suburbs, propped boulders, cairns, chambers and walls combine to form time?s trace, at once familiar and strange. Who built them? When? And why? Bailey will speak about his moral imperative to minimize waste and his quest for energy neutral art making. He will also discuss how he believes that artwork should function beyond that of decoration.
