Mystic Aquarium Announces Limited Engagement of Renowned Marine Debris Education
Washed Ashore is a traveling exhibit that features larger-than-life hand-crafted sculptures of marine mammals and other sea life made exclusively from marine debris. Environmental artist Angela Haseltine Pozzi founded the Washed Ashore 'Art to Save the Sea' Project to educate and create awareness of ocean debris and plastic pollution and its effect on marine life species. This astonishing exhibit is hands-on, interactive, eye-opening, and unforgettable. See 21 sculptures of the Washed Ashore Exhibit located throughout the Mystic Aquarium campus. Sculptures, like Lidia, the eight-foot seal, a walk-through replica of an ocean gyre, a Styrofoam coral reef, Tula, a 10-foot sea turtle, and many more will be displayed throughout the property for a limited engagement beginning on November 1. The artwork is combined with scientifically based educational signage to teach children and adults alike about ocean stewardship, responsible consumer habits and more. Adults and children alike will have the opportunity to fully engage with Washed Ashore through fun and education events and activities. The Washed Ashore exhibition is free with paid admission.
