Ribbon Cutting: Artists' Trail at the Florence Griswold Museum
Please join us to celebrate the grand opening of the Robert F. Schumann Artists' Trail at Old Lyme's Florence Griswold Museum.
We will celebrate with remarks from Florence Griswold Museum staff and eastern CT business leaders, then cut a ceremonial ribbon with the Chamber's giant scissors. Admission is free and open to all with no RSVP necessary. Support this important member of eastern CT's cultural community!
About the Artists' Trail:
Visitors will soon enjoy a re-imagined landscape of the Museum’s 12 acres–interweaving art, history, and nature in new and delightful ways.
The new Robert F. Schumann Artists’ Trail will give visitors an authentic sense of why artists were drawn to the site more than a century ago by leading them on meandering walks around the Museum’s riverfront, garden, hedgerows, and wooded areas.
Interpretive materials guide visitors through the site and reference migratory bird habitats and native species plantings, as well as locations of historical significance to the Lyme Art Colony. Upon completing their tour of the Museum and its grounds, visitors will understand why artists came from all over to capture the beauty of the local landscape on canvas.
