Alzheimer’s Association To Hold Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s Sept 16

Southington, CT – The Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter is holding its annual New London Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, September 16th at Ocean Beach Park., 98 Neptune Avenue, New London, CT.    This family-friendly event includes a 2 mile walk as well as light refreshments.     All funds raised through Walk to End Alzheimer's further the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
 
Registration will begin at 8am on September 16th, with the official ceremony beginning at 9:00am.  Participants are encouraged to pre-register by going to www.alz.org/walk or by calling 860-887-3593
 
The Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter estimates there are more than 75,000 people in Connecticut with Alzheimer’s disease and a growing population of early onset Alzheimer’s in the state.  There are 177,000 caregivers who provide more than 201 million hours of unpaid care each year to family, friends and colleagues.   Alzheimer’s disease is the 6th leading cause of death and the only one of the top ten that has no way to be slowed, stopped or prevented.  There is no cure.
