America's Cup Yacht Replica 'America' Comes to Stonington Harbor

Stonington, CT – Stonington residents and visitors are invited to jump aboard a replica of the original sailing yacht America, which in 1851 stunned the world by winning the legendary sailing race around the Isle of Wight and won the trophy that now bears her name, the America's Cup.
 
America will be at the New England Science & Sailing Foundation (70 & 72 Water Street, Stonington) and open to the public for tours on Tuesday June 7th. Dockside walk aboard tours of the boat will be available from 4:00-7:00pm. The price will be $5 for adults, kids under 13 are free. 100% of ticket sales will support NESS programs. On Wednesday June 8th, America will move next door to the Stonington Harbor Yacht Club (32 Water Street, Stonington) for additional tours as well as opportunities to sail on the ship, a special lunch, a lecture and dinner.
 
The evening presentation includes an overview of the Cup's storied history, a chance to relive the dramatic comeback of America's Cup 34, and an inside look at what to expect for America's Cup 35 in Bermuda.
