Charter Oak to Hold Blood Drive Oct. 1 at Headquarters

Waterford, CT – Charter Oak Federal Credit Union will be hosting a blood drive on Thursday, October 1st at its Branch & Headquarters in Waterford at 1055 Hartford Turnpike.

The public is invited to donate blood between 11:00am and 4:30pm. Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good overall health. Eligible donors are able to donate blood every two months.

The American Red Cross must collect 15,000 blood donations every day to meet the needs of patients at approximately 2,600 hospitals and transfusion centers across the country. Donors with all blood types are needed, and especially those with types O negative, A negative, B negative and AB blood.

The entire donation process takes roughly one hour. All donors will be asked to answer some questions about their health history and will have their temperature, pulse, blood pressure and hemoglobin level checked.
