City of Groton Concerts in the Park Begins Friday 6/16

June is finally here which means our summer concert season is just around the corner! Get ready to rock out in the park with our stellar lineup of 2023 bands. We have several bands making their Washington Park debut in 2023 while at the same time we are bringing back a number of our all-time favorites. First up is regional favorite Red Light on June 16th, followed by a different awesome band each Friday through the end of July.

All shows are at Washington Park in the City of Groton, starting at 6:30 pm. We have a wide variety of food trucks for each show as well as media partner Q105 – so come on down and start the weekend off right by rockin’ out in the park!

June 16th – Red Light

Red Light was voted “Best Band 2022” in the most recent New London Day and Norwich Bulletin Readers’ Choice Awards. Red Light is a five-piece modern and classic dance party rock, country rock and pop rock cover band that bring energy and musicianship to every show they play. Red Light plays the best party music spanning five decades in a fun, dynamic, high-energy show.

June 23rd – Wild Nights

Wild Nights is Southeastern Connecticut’s newest party rock band. The band plays music spanning across multiple decades – something to make everyone dance and have a blast! With songs by artists ranging from Maroon 5, Dua Lipa, Alanis Morissette, The Weeknd and The B-52s all the way to Guns and Roses – there is something for everyone.

June 30th – Take it to the Bridge

Take it to the Bridge is a 7-piece group based out of Rhode Island that has all the right stuff to get the party started. Voted Rhode Island Monthly Magazine’s “Best Wedding Live Music” every year since 2019, the band plays everything from classic R&B to the latest pop hits. Each song is performed with a unique, soulful style aimed to get the audience out of their seats and onto the dance floor!

July 7th – The Heavy Hitters

Fronted by the amazing Heather Joseph, The Heavy Hitters are a group whose members are extraordinary musicians and masters of their instruments. The band brings together their considerable skills to wow audiences with their versions of classics by Heart, Pat Benetar, Georgia Satellites, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Journey and much, much more.

July 14th – American Honey

American Honey is a band of five friends who found each other through music. At their core, they are a Modern Country Band that isn’t afraid to play a little Rock and Pop from the 90s and beyond. American Honey is always danceable and high energy with lots of chances for you to sing along and be part of the show!

July 21st – Wicked Peach

Wicked Peach is this area’s ultimate rock cover band and is a staple on the southeastern New England music scene. Wicked Peach rocks the hard rock classics from the 90s better than anyone, while offering up a satisfying sampling from the 70s, 80s and 2000s to keep the crowds coming back for more. If you haven’t seen Wicked Peach before you’ve GOTTA come down to the park and see one of the best bands in the state.

July 28th – F & Blues Band

F & Blues Band played for us in the park several years back and we are beyond excited to bring them back for the final show of the summer. Based out of Southeastern Connecticut the F & Blues Band is comprised of four highly seasoned tight-knit musicians playing the best of the old blues, new blues and their own original songs. Come wrap up the summer concert series with us while enjoying one of the best blues bands in the state.

General Concert Information:

This Friday Night summer concert series is held at Washington Park, Meridian Street in Groton. All concerts start at 6:30 p.m. and is co-sponsored and co-produced by Groton Utilities and the City of Groton Parks and Recreation Department.

Food is available on site from food trucks and the concession stand. Restrooms are also available.

The concerts are designed to be especially appealing to families for a fun, inexpensive night out. Spectators are encouraged to bring their families and perhaps a picnic supper. The concert site also has sufficient room on the basketball court for dancing.
