Coast Guard Athletics Hosts 8th Annual Women's LeadHERship Symposium
Janet Judge, a Partner at Holland & Knight LLP gave the keynote address to begin the symposium. Based in Boston, she has more than 30 years of experience in higher education, intercollegiate sports, labor and employment law, as well as immense knowledge regarding Title IX.
"I feel incredibly fortunate in the opportunities that I have been given in sport. This was a wonderful opportunity for me to network with women who are on the ground, doing important things and for me to have the opportunity to give back," said Judge on her experience at the symposium.
The afternoon featured breakout sessions and panel discussions. Panelists in attendance were; Nancy Feldman, Head Women's Soccer Coach at Boston University, Dani McDonnell, Head Field Hockey Coach at Western Connecticut State University, Meg Stevens, Director of Athletics at Averett University, Stevie Baker-Watson, Director of Athletics at DePauw University, and Dawn Stewart, Director of Athletics at Otterbein University. These panelists also served as facilitators during the breakout sessions.
Other facilitators included; Lauren Haynie, Senior Associate Athletic Director at Wellesley College, Jamie Marcoux, Director of Athletics at Assumption College, and Andrea Belis, Assistant Athletic Director at Becker College.
These sessions allowed conversations among women in college athletics to discuss trending topics, interact and share ideas with one another, and provided a networking opportunity for all attendees.
