DPNC's 15th Annual Wild Mushroom Festival Set for Sunday, Sept. 25

Mystic, CT – The Denison Pequotsepos/Coogan Farm Nature & Heritage Center’s 15th annual Wild Mushroom Festival, which celebrates wild edibles and offers mushroom delicacies prepared by local chefs and vendors, is 1-4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 25 at the Nature Center, 109 Pequotsepos Road, Mystic.
 
Participating restaurants this year are Capt. Daniel Packer Inne, Gray Goose Cookery, Maize ‘n’ Manna Wholefoods, Maple Lane Farms, Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream, Zest Fresh Pastry, The Mystic Boathouse, Milagro Cafe, Bridge Restaurant and Raw Bar, and Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center’s Pequot Cafe. Cottrell Brewing Co., will again make its wildly popular oyster mushroom beer, as well as have its iconic Old Yankee Ale on hand. Live music by The Root Farmers.
 
Wild mushroom walks will be led throughout the afternoon by members of the CT Valley Mycological Society, and the mushrooms gathered from their morning foray will be on display. Talks on wild mushrooms and foraging will be led by The 3 Foragers, a Norwich husband, wife and daughter who have honed their expertise in the areas of wild foraging and wild mushrooms. Robert, Karen, and Gillian Kraczewski will talk about cooking with wild mushrooms and mushrooming for beginners.
 
The Wild Mushroom Festival is sponsored by Big Y, Mohegan Sun and Gray Goose Cookery.
 
Tickets are $20 for adults (includes 10 food tickets) and $10 for children 2-13 (5 food tickets). Advance tickets are available online at www.dpnc.org/calendar or can be bought at the gate.
