Mystic Arts Center Announces Karen Barthelson Retires From Executive Director Position

Mystic Arts Center (MAC) Board of Directors has announced that Executive Director, Karen N. Barthelson, will be leaving MAC early in 2015. Barthelson, who lives in Stonington, has been MAC Executive Director for the past eight years. She has been with MAC for the past seventeen years beginning in May of 1998 and served in various positions including Director of Exhibitions and Collections before accepting the position as Executive Director in 2006.  She has been an Elected Artist Member since 1995.

Barthelson has decided to move on to pursue her many personal interests, which include fine art appraisal and painting.  Barthelson has agreed to stay on while the Board completes its search for a new director and to aid in the transition.

According to Board President, Mary Anne Stets, “Karen has accomplished a great deal in her time here.  We are sorry to see her go but understand she wants to move on to the next phase of her life.  MAC is grateful to have been the beneficiary of her hard work and dedication along with her love of the arts.”
