DEEP has just launched a major new initiative called 20BY26

DEEP has just launched a major new initiative called 20BY26 in which DEEP is committing to 20 performance improvement goals to achieve by the end of 2026 that will enhance the transparency, predictability, and efficiency DEEP’s regulatory processes. By making our processes more effective, we aim to improve environmental outcomes across the state. You can find details about 20BY26 in this kickoff report, and in this overview webinar (20 mins) recorded last week.  We are committing to 16 goals, and we are soliciting suggestions from the public by May 1 about 4 additional performance goals DEEP should set.  Further details are available on the DEEP website.  Please read more about 20BY26 below.

Goal 12 of the 20BY26 initiative is focused on developing our municipal partnerships and better supporting and communicating with our municipalities. I am pleased to announce that DEEP is creating a new, centralized municipal liaison function coordinated by the Commissioner’s Office. DEEP’s Municipal Team  will serve as your point of contact, facilitating communication, awareness, and assistance for municipal projects and regulatory information. To better connect with our municipal partners, we have created this newsletter - Municipal Connections - so that we can share information about funding opportunities, upcoming events, tools you can use, and celebrate the communities of Connecticut with highlighted projects and announcements.

Please write to us at DEEP.Concierge@ct.gov if you have any questions about permitting municipal projects and regulatory information.

Warm Regards,

Katie S. Dykes

Commissioner
