UCFS Clinician Receives National Recognition

 
UCFS is pleased to announce that Becky Moore, LPC at the UCFS Colchester office has become nationally certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidenced based treatment that helps children and adolescents recover from traumatic events that have occurred in their lives. The model is a short term, structured model involving both the youth and the caregiver.  Research has shown that TF-CBT significantly reduces traumatic stress symptoms in children and adolescents.
 
To become nationally certified, Becky met a high level of standards including successful completion of three cases, participation in a series of supervision phone calls, passing an examination on TF-CBT and a two day, intensive training on the model.
 
Currently there are less than 25 Nationally Certified TF-CBT therapists in the state of Connecticut.
