Rosalyn Allen Food Pantry at UCFS to Hold First Annual Food Drive

UCFS is proud to announce that they will hold their first annual Food Drive to benefit the Rosalyn Allen Food Pantry on November 4th, 2017 from 11 am – 4 pm at the Norwich Stop & Shop.  Non-perishable food items will be accepted to fill emergency bags for UCFS clients in immediate need of food assistance.

The Rosalyn Allen Food Pantry opened in January 2017 to help UCFS clients who experience food insecurities.  Since January we have provided food to 1, 300 clients. When any client visiting a healthcare provider at any UCFS health center indicates suffering from lack of food, they are supplied with an emergency food bag before they leave the building.  The Pantry provides a full day supply of food for the family and connects them with longer term food assistance programs in the community.  The Pantry is funded entirely on donations.  UCFS is grateful for the support and partnership Stop & Shop has given the Pantry both in donations of food and funds, and also in hosting the food drive.

Since 1877, UCFS has strived to meet the ever-changing health and human service needs of the community. In addition to providing health services, UCFS aims to eliminate barriers to care by assisting with insurance needs and providing support for basic needs, such as stable housing or food security.
