SAVA Insurance Group to Host Flag Exchange

SAVA Insurance Group, a Waterford, Connecticut-based independent insurance agency, is promoting community patriotism and the American Spirit with its 2016 United States Flag Exchange. Local residents can bring their faded or tattered flags to the agency during Flag Week, June 13th-17th, and receive a complementary replacement. Those without an American flag can receive a flag and mounting kit at no charge.

Donna Yother, agency President, says, “SAVA is hoping the community will embrace our patriotic spirit and honor all the brave men and women who have fought for our freedom this Flag Day.   Hang those flags and let’s decorate our community in red, white and blue.”  She points out the flags being offered through this exchange are 100% American made.

SAVA Insurance Group is promoting the exchange and Flag Day celebration through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, using the hashtag, #SavaCaresFlagDay. “People and local businesses can join us by tweeting or tagging photos with that hashtag, so we can get the word out to others in our community,” Yother explains. She encourages everyone to share and tag photos of other local displays of patriotism.

“We would like this to be an annual community event,” Yother explains. “It will be great to see our community and neighborhoods full of flags, and it’s also a great opportunity to strike up a conversation with our younger generations about the American Flag and its’ history.” The independent insurance agency is distributing flyers that local businesses can display to encourage their customers to take part.

New flags will be available at the agency at 750 Broad Street, Waterford, Connecticut, during normal business hours, Monday - Friday, 8:30am -  5:00pm. “All you need to do is stop in at the SAVA Office with your old, worn flag,” Yother says. “We’ll provide a brand new one.”

The agency will also work with the local boy scout troop who will conduct an official ceremony to respectfully retire and dispose of unsuitable flags.

In addition, SAVA Insurance Group will host a cookout at its office on Tuesday, June 14th at 3pm, that is free and open to the community.  Great food, great music, and a great community event to celebrate our flag and American heroes.  “Don’t forget to wear your red, white and blue to that event,” Yother adds.
