Sprigs & Twigs Staff Earn NOFA Certification

 
Gales Ferry, CT – Sprigs & Twigs, Inc., a leading landscape design, lawn care and tree service provider in southeastern Connecticut for 19 years, today announced that two more of its staff have become Accredited Organic Land Care Professionals (AOLCP) through the Northeast Organic Farming Association’s (NOFA) accreditation program. A total of nine Sprigs & Twigs employees have completed NOFAs comprehensive four-day, 30-hour course and rigorous exam based on NOFA standards for organic land care.
 
Bruce Bennett and Bob Marikle of Sprigs & Twigs are now among more than 500 Accredited Organic Land Care Professionals throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region, accredited by the NOFA Organic Land Care Program, a program of the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Connecticut. With nine staff earning the AOLCP designation, Sprigs & Twigs has more accredited employees than any other company in NOFA.
 
“Consumer demand for organic landscaping services is increasing rapidly,” said Bill Lillie, AOLCP, chief executive officer, Sprigs & Twigs. “More people want less toxic landscapes as they become aware of the dangers that synthetic pesticides and fertilizers pose to biodiversity, water quality and ecosystem health."
 
More than 2,000 professionals have been educated since the course’s inception in 2002. The course covers all aspects of organic land care from soil health, site analysis and planting/plant care to composting and lawn alternatives.
