The Chieftains Returns to Jorgensen on ''The Irish Goodbye'' Tour- EVENT NOW SOLD OUT

Winner of six Grammy awards and widely-regarded as the world’s best-known and best-loved Irish folk music group, The Chieftains return to Storrs on Saturday, March 14 to treat their audience to a night of rollicking traditional Irish music, dancing, and merriment in the cozy candlelit cabaret setting of UConn’s Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts.

The Storrs concert appearance, one stop in the band’s “The Irish Goodbye” Tour, will celebrate the iconic group’s nearly six decades of music-making, during which they reinvented traditional Irish music on a contemporary and international scale. Though many consider an Irish Goodbye to be one sneaking out of a party without telling anyone, others disagree. They say that an Irish person can’t be the last one to leave the party without hours of long conversations, a few sing-alongs and elaborate farewells. This performance promises the latter, as founder Paddy Moloney says, “Our US fans continue to give us the warmest of welcomes, so it’s going to be a huge pleasure to play once again for all our friends.”

Sandwiches, desserts, and beverages will be available from a cash bar when doors open at 7:00 pm. The show begins at 8:00 pm.
