UCFS awarded grant from the Petit Family Foundation

United Community and Family Services (UCFS) is proud to announce  that we have been awarded a $5,405 grant from the Petit Family Foundation to purchase art therapy supplies for our clients who are struggling with trauma or chronic illness.

UCFS’ Norwich Health Center currently offers art therapy programs for both adults and teens.  All are designed to provide a space for individuals suffering from mental health, trauma and substance use issues to explore aspects of their disorders in a non-verbal way that many find less threatening than traditional talk therapy.

The supplies will also be used for our new group for individuals coming to the end of their cancer treatment focusing on the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual effect of their illness, treatment and recovery.

We are grateful for the generosity of the Petit Family in supporting our mission and their dedication to making an impact to improve the lives of those affected by chronic illness and trauma.
