Norwich, CT – UCFS Healthcare, the premier community-based organization providing health and human services to individuals and families from five locations in eastern Connecticut, is celebrating 2017 National Health Center Week August 13-19 through a campaign, “It’s Your Health – Take the Wheel,” to drive awareness about the programs and services offered.

Monday, August 14, UCFS Healthcare will host an event at Naskart Indoor Kart Racing and Trampoline Park, where 150 community members will be able to take the wheel for a free heat on the track. The track is located at 1 Sachatello Industrial Drive in Montville, CT 06353. Pre-registration on Eventbrite is available via a link on UCFS.org for free heats being offered between 9 a.m. and 12 noon on August 14. Slots are limited, and pre-registration will close Friday, August 11. Registrants must meet Naskart’s race track policy, including 15 years of age and 58” tall.

The UCFS campaign ties into the national theme as well – Celebrating America’s Health Centers: The Key to Healthier Communities. More information about National Health Center Week can be found at https://healthcenterweek.org/about-nhcw/

“Is it unusual to celebrate National Health Center Week at a race track? We don’t think so! As the leading driver of healthcare in our community, we want to make sure that people know about us, utilize our services, and make it to a healthy finish line,” notes Pamela Kinder, Vice President of Business Development.

“National Health Center Week is not only a great time to attend our events and take the wheel, but it is also a great time to learn about our services while we’re out in the community,” says Jennifer Granger, CEO of UCFS, who often takes part in CEO-on-the-go outreach.

Before the Naskart event, UCFS will host their annual Community Breakfast from 7:45-9:00 a.m. at Naskart Indoor Kart Racing and Trampoline Park. To RSVP for the breakfast, please contact Jennifer Ermler at 860-822-4147 or jermler@ucfs.org.
