Looking for a fun and meaningful way to give back to your community? Grab your gloves and join us for a hands-on volunteer day! Chamber ECT is teaming up with New London Trees and the Cedar Grove Cemetery Board to plant trees for a greener, cooler, and more vibrant New London on October 4th!

Whether you're a seasoned green thumb or just easier to give back, everyone’s welcome—families, friends, neighbors, and nature lovers of all ages! 

At this day of fresh air and canopy-creating fun, we'll be planting a variety of native and legacy trees that will benefit the City's people and their environment for generations to come. All you have to do is bring sturdy shoes and your community spirit!

📍 Location: Cedar Grove Cemetery, 638 Broad Street
🚗 Parking: Along Road (in front of cemetery)
📅 RSVPs: Encouraged (this will help us plan for refreshments/snacks!)
👕 Attire: Casual Layers (October may be chilly and you'll be working with dirt!)

Why Trees? Why Here?

This event is part of a larger project funded by a 2024 grant to New London Trees from the state's DEEP. The mission: plant 100 trees by 2026 in areas hit hardest by the urban heat island effect—where pavement dominates and shade is scarce. Cedar Grove Cemetery, one of New London’s oldest green spaces, offers the perfect place to regrow what time has taken. We’ll be planting 25 beautiful, climate-resilient trees—like sugar maples, elms, sweetbay magnolias, and legacy eastern red cedars—to help restore this historic green oasis. Because cemeteries are more than resting places—they’re some of the welcome urban parks, and perfect places to breathe life back into the city.
