Young Professionals Social - Meet the Symphony

Thursday, April 23, 2026 (5:00 PM - 7:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

🎶 Join us for a relaxing evening behind-the-scenes with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra at the iconic Garde Arts Center. Consider this your backstage pass to meet some of the most talented instrumentalists in our region and to experience one of Eastern Connecticut’s most vibrant musical venues.

Young Professionals will have the chance to engage directly with symphony performers, hear their stories, learn about their instruments, and get a look at what goes into bringing a concert to life.

We’re also teaming up with other local chambers, so you’ll meet even more professionals your age from across eastern Connecticut. Be sure to stay for a sneak peek of the dress rehearsal for the Symphony’s upcoming concert, Sounds of America, on April 25.

Come casual or business casual, and feel relaxed to learn more about music in New London.

🎻 About our Hosts:

The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra (ESCO) began in 1946, founded by Norwegian immigrant Victor Norman as the New London Civic Orchestra. After teaming up frequently with the Willimantic Community Orchestra, the two groups officially merged in 1954 to become the Eastern Connecticut Symphony.

Victor Norman led the orchestra for 35 years, during which it grew massively—adding more concerts, expanding its budget, and eventually becoming a fully professional ensemble. The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Chorus and Youth Orchestra were also launched during this era, both in 1967, shaping ECSO into the regional arts institution it is today.

Garde Arts Center: Southeastern Connecticut’s non-profit home for the performing arts, cinema and education, the Garde Arts Center was founded in 1985 to save, restore and operate in the heart of downtown New London the historic (1926) Garde Theater and Building as a regional cultural gathering place and economic catalyst.
