Position Overview: Title: Director of Outpatient Services Department: Clinical Division Classification: Exempt; Non-Union Schedule: Mon-Fri, 1st shift The Director of Outpatient Services is responsible for providing direct supervision of the clinical team, as well as the development, integration, and coordination of the outpatient program. This position ensures the quality of the clinical staff through an effective screening process, innovative training programs, and maintenance of service excellence standards. General operations of the outpatient program may include policy & procedure, employee relations, training and development, finance and budgeting, legal/risk management, customer service/service excellence, billing and central business office functions, quality, safety, and information systems. This position is integral to the overall mission of the agency and requires collaboration across programs agency-wide. Essential Functions: • Coordinates and oversees all operations of clinical services provided including Intake and Outpatient group and individual therapy; • Evaluates performance of and provides supervision to, the above-listed supervisory direct reports. • Provides clinical group/individual supervision to clinicians. • Can provide teaching and training to team on an as needed basis of evidence-based practices. • Must have a strong understanding and ability to teach trauma informed care, mental health, substance abuse, dual diagnosis, motivational interviewing skills, as well as other areas identified. • Able to develop and implement new clinical groups based on trends within our community. • Interprets operational and productivity indicators to detect census changes and increases or decreases in volume that could impact staffing levels, revenues or expenses making changes in staffing when needed. • Ensures that productivity standards are followed and is confident in working with team on setting expectations related to the standards. • Runs EHR reports not limited failed activity claims, delinquent signatures, and authorizations to ensure activities are completed within a timely basis. • Works closely with the Front Office, Billing, agency Program Directors and administrative/operational functions. • Reviews and signs off on all clinical documentation including intakes, recovery plans, and other documentation as needed. • Participates in network meetings and develops new partnerships and is the point of contact relative to the clinics and works in conjunction with the Program Directors and Coordinators to enhance wrap-around care, increase integration and risk discussions. • Evaluates program progress bi-annually in conjunction with DMHAS guidelines. • Works in harmony with the medical/prescribing team to assure continuity of care. • May carry a caseload at times, to accommodate crisis needs including intakes, filling in for other staff, etc., with split administrative and clinical time; is able to flex schedule • Responsible for patient recruitment and retention, customer service improvement initiatives and coordinating efforts to engage clients who have fallen out of care. • Is an active leader in developing and adhering to policies & procedures set by the agency; • Monitor client files, records, and other documentation, for adherence to best practice, agency policy, external regulations and funding requirements. • Coordinate with revenue team and fiscal department to ensure that the revenue cycle is implemented effectively beginning with the front desk staff to providers coding services properly. • Ensure compliance with all legislative, program, and funder regulations including standards of HRSA, Meaningful Use, CMS, DPH, HIPAA and OSHA regulations. • Build ongoing relationships with other service providers in community and promote the services that SCSI provides. • Facilitate weekly clinic staff meetings and multi-disciplinary team staffing. • Part of the leadership team within organization and will attend networking events, leadership meetings, and assist in developing curriculum for trainings at all agency meetings. • Performs other duties as assigned and/or necessary. Qualifications: • Master's Degree in Human Services or related field required • State of CT LCSW licensure required • A minimum of one (1) year of management experience in a behavioral health or medical setting required • Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct all aspects of clinic operations including administrative support, QI processes, understanding of billing functions, and providing clinical supervision • Must demonstrate significant skill in attention to detail, organization, and establishing and maintaining processes and workflows • Competent user of technology including electronic medical records, experience with meaningful use standards preferred • CPR/First Aid certified or eligible Physical Requirements: • Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and climb stairs • Regularly required to walk, talk and/or hear • Speaking and hearing ability should be sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes • Vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc. • Specific vision abilities required by this position include the ability to adjust focus • Occasionally required to stand and climb or balance • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
