Educator

Position: Part-time Educator
Time Frame: Immediate and ongoing
Hours: Up to 20 hours per week (including some afternoons and weekends)
Rate: $22 per hour

Role Overview:
The Yellow Farmhouse Part-time Educator leads hands-on educational programming for children and adults, connecting participants to food, agriculture, and cooking. The Educator reports to the Director of Community Engagement and collaborates with the Yellow Farmhouse team to deliver engaging, experiential learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach culinary, food system, and farm-based classes for elementary through high school students, adapting lessons to meet age and experience levels.

  • Prepare materials, support program setup, and assist with clean-up.

  • Facilitate hands-on cooking, gardening, and farm-based activities.

  • Collaborate with staff to plan, evaluate, and refine programs in alignment with Yellow Farmhouse’s educational mission.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching children and/or adults.

  • Passion for fostering meaningful connections to cooking and agriculture.

  • Interest in food systems, agriculture, and culinary education.

  • Creativity and flexibility in designing hands-on, experiential learning activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of food systems, ecology, soil health, and food justice.

  • Culinary training or self-taught culinary skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in education, environmental studies, food studies, or related fields.

  • Experience in program facilitation, cooking instruction, or farm-based education.
